Half-day Professional Academic Dance Program
The NAPA professional half-day program offers an extremely comprehensive program for students in grade 8-12 who would like to pursue a career in dance. Students attend their local high school classes for the morning, and then attend dance classes at NAPA for the afternoon. The students receive school credits for the dance classes and must complete 20 hours of dance instruction per week. |

Our half-day program is extremely unique in that we offer a wide variety of dance courses for the students which keeps them excited and engaged. We offer Ballet, Pointe Repertoire, Modern, Jazz, Choreography, Dance History, Dance Notation, Music for Dancers, Flamenco, Traditional Chinese Dance, Body Conditioning. We feel that this program prepares the students for any dance career and/or post-secondary institute. |
Napa Classes
Northwest Academy of Performing Arts is a Royal Academy of Dance School (RAD). This school of dance is designed to give dancers a disciplined and progressive training that adheres to strict techniques and structure to give dancers a globally recognized certification for dance. Our classes range from pre primary to the coveted solo seal certification. Along with the structured RAD classes, Northwest Academy of the Performing Arts believes in additional classes that focus on specific skills to build technique and strength. These open classes bring in dancers of similar levels together who want to improve skill or just maintain their connection with their dance discipline. |
BalletNorthwest Academy is a Royal Academy of Dance based school. The Royal Academy of Dance is a British system of teaching ballet, and students from five years old to professional take part in ballet exams each spring. Our teachers stress the importance of developing a strong technique and dance style at every level. Students in the half-day program take open ballet technique classes which are augmented by the Royal Academy of Dance exam syllabus. Contemporary/ModernIn contemporary dance classes, students learn to use their bodies in a variety of ways, and they focus on breathing, posture, and emotional state to establish a mind-body connection. Students learn choreographed works and are encouraged to improvise dance pieces. |
JazzThe history of jazz dancing is extremely unique in that it has developed through the influence of several other dance styles and techniques. It grew up alongside the American jazz music tradition and like jazz music, has its roots in African and slave traditions. Later, though, it became entwined with tap, Minstrel shows, vaudeville, swing, and Broadway. |
Hip HopHip Hop is fast becoming recognized as a professional style of dance. Whether it is for fun or the desire to use your skill professionally Hip Hop a great style to help build upon your dance repertoire. Come to our fun and challenging classes that will guide you from basic moves to the most challenging of tricks. |
Musical TheatreWhether your aspirations are the bright lights of Broadway or the community spotlight the benefits of stage works are far reaching into everyday life. Our classes draw upon the experience of professional actors and directors who are among the best in our country. TapTap combines the cool jazz of American theatrical dance with the hypnotic beat of percussive rhythms. This dance discipline is one of the most loved forms of dance that when mastered can capture the audiences imagination. Great dancers from Bill "Bojangles" Robinson to Gene Kelly and the great Gregory Hines. Our Tap program draws from the Al Gilbert tap certifications to offer a globally recognized program. |
HighlandDating back to before recorded history, the Highland Dances of Scotland were originally highly athletic male dances of triumph, joy, and other reflections of emotion. Now Highland is performed by girls, boys, men and women on stages and in highland games around the world. |
